‘LEEK: the first millennium'
A film by Ray Johnson and Gerald Mee.
When Leek was mentioned in the Doomsday Book, it had a population of just ‘28 households’. From that insignificant beginning, this film tells the story of Leek as a market town and its steady growth in the Middle Ages, the rise and fall of its silk industry and its philanthropic mill owners, to the turn of the 21st century. This fascinating film will be preceded by our annual general meeting.
7.30pm at Foxlowe in the Bromfield Room.
Doors open at 7pm. All Welcome.
Non-members £5 (cash or card)
